Shannon Lovelady is the Archivist, Curator and Historian at Presbyterian Ladies' College, Perth. In researching for the school's centenary history, shared with that of the Anzac centenary, she was told no one knew the number of West Australian men killed at Gallipoli. More, that it was impossible to determine.
As all the Australian war service records are freely available online, Shannon knew it was just a matter of compiling the right lists and checking the records. She gathered a group of like-minded historians and researchers and they slowly made their way through 4000+ war service records to determine the number of West Australians killed at Gallipoli.
