Parramatta Heritage Centre

The Parramatta Heritage Centre is part of the Parramatta City Council and provides the following range of services to the community:

  • Research Library
    The research library is free to visit and contains a significant collection of books, magazines and journals related to Parramatta and Western Sydney. It also has online subscriptions, databases and magazines relating to family history.
  • Council Archives
    The Parramatta City Council dates back to 1861 and its archives contain rare and interesting documents from the mid-1800s through to the late 1900s. Items include rare books, valuation lists, photographic work, DA's, minute books, drawings, and ephemera.
  • Photographic Collections
    The Heritage Centre has an extensive photographic, print and audio/ visual collection relating to people, places and events in the Parramatta District dating back from the present to the early 1800s.
  • Museum and Art Collections
    The City Council has acquired a number of significant objects and artworks related to Parramatta and the broader district. The Centre also has on display a free permanent exhibition on the history of Parramatta.
