The Parramatta Heritage Centre is part of the Parramatta City Council and provides the following range of services to the community:
Research Library The research library is free to visit and contains a significant collection of books, magazines and journals related to Parramatta and Western Sydney. It also has online subscriptions, databases and magazines relating to family history.
Council Archives The Parramatta City Council dates back to 1861 and its archives contain rare and interesting documents from the mid-1800s through to the late 1900s. Items include rare books, valuation lists, photographic work, DA's, minute books, drawings, and ephemera.
Photographic Collections The Heritage Centre has an extensive photographic, print and audio/ visual collection relating to people, places and events in the Parramatta District dating back from the present to the early 1800s.
Museum and Art Collections The City Council has acquired a number of significant objects and artworks related to Parramatta and the broader district. The Centre also has on display a free permanent exhibition on the history of Parramatta.
