A series of ebooks that tell a history of the First World War through the words and letters of nine men who died in the fighting.
Unlike many ebooks, which are simply electronic versions of the print copy, the books in the War Letters series have been written specifically for the ebook to make the most of all the possibilities it offers. Extensive notes accompany each book with links to a vast range of freely available online historical sources about the First World War. The War Letters 1914-1918 website provides links to many of those resources which are available at no cost without subscription or registration.
Although not written specifically as educational books, the moving personal stories and links to original documents make the books a fantastic resource for teachers. If any education authorities or sponsors would like to fund the provision of volume 3 to school students in their area please contact Mark Tanner. Review copies on request.
